What's in Our Hospital Bags

I think that writing this down is super helpful for me. I thought while I am putting my hospital bag together I would type it out as a blog so that I can refer back to it as I am trying to get it together and buy things that I may need. But also, some of you were asking so I thought why not compile it all for you here.

So I am going to go through each of our bags in detail! Let’s go through Moms ( AKA ME) first.

The New Mom’s Hospital Bag

During labor I plan on bringing my oils, some lip balm, hair ties, a blanket, a pillow, socks to throw away, big water bottle with a straw and music or a bluetooth speaker. After labor I want to make sure that I have some comfy things to change into, like front opening shirts, dark socks, some stretchy pants or maybe even a delivery gown,. I will need a robe, a few nursing bras, definitely high-waisted underwear, and toiletries and my favorite makeup stuff.

I think I will also bring a swimsuit ( Top and Bottom) in case I want to take a bath or shower at the hospital and don’t want to expose myself to the world haha.

O I L S

I do have a doula! Which is super exciting. I will be using oils throughout labor, and I am sure she has a bunch of stuff for us to use; however, I thought I would make my own rollers and have some of my oils with me.

I can’t recommend this book enough Betsy Bosom Baby Book, it has gotten me through this entire pregnancy and it’s def a must if you want to know what you can use during pregnancy and what to expect in each trimester.

Peppermint: this is going to be a must for me because I will maybe get hot and nauseous so this will help for that! I could even drop a drop on a towel and put it on my neck.

Frankincense: I plan on anointing the baby so I would probably have this diffusing or may even use it once they are born. I also use this oil often to help me when I feel lightheaded so I feel like it’s a key to helping me.

Valor: I know I will need this for courage. I plan on making this into a roller that I can roll on my wrist. You need this rolled on great emotional support.

Claraderm: I have been trying to add this to my order for MONTHS but guess what it has been Out of stock. This is supposed to help prevent tearing, and is cooling for your tired body post your vaginal birth. I need it in my life for after and getting ready for delivery as well.

If we need to speed up labor like I mean are 40 weeks and just want to get ready to go: I think I will use Jasmine it can stimulate the uterus. I can just diffuse it or smell it out of the bottle. I can even use it on my feet. It is PUNGENT so I may use it in a roller. Clary Sage will also be helpful if the contractions are stalled.

I think I am going to bring my sweet aroma diffuser from Young Living, then maybe even a few oils I just like the smell of to help me stay calm. Like peace and calming, gentle baby, sacred mountain. OR pre-made diffuser blends I always am finding new things and posting them on my pinterest if you run out of ideas. !!

Next: I am thinking of bringing some Liquid IV to help me stay hydrated. Padiscles I will also be bringing/ making so that I don’t feel too uncomfortable. Maybe even bring some of my FAVEEE gluten free snacks.

5 drops each Frankincense, tea tree, lavender, helichrysum.

Use your favorite pads, unscented preferably, and spray this mixture onto the pads. they will be rock hard if you over spray. You can place parchment paper between the layers if you are going to stack them you can put them into a bowl so they curve and hug you and then you can freeze them OR you can spray this spray onto the pads as you use them.

TUCKS!!! For the Hospital so you don’t have to bring all the Padsicles to the hospital.

Also if you need more ideas- UT Southwestern did a whole article on oils and labor and so did Healthline!

The New Dad’s Hospital Bag

Breckan always knows his essentials. He packs the lightest and honestly he is one of the most efficient packers I know. So he has gotten it down. His toiletries, snacks, chargers, and our birth binder. He’s pretty simple so I don’t plan on him bringing a bunch haha. He will also need to bring our speaker in case I want it!

The Baby’s Bag

Gosh, I can’t believe I am packing for Olive already. I planned on bringing a few diapers in case, maybe some swaddles, her outfit to take her home in, a couple onesies. I’ll need a muslin blanket for sure! We already have her car seat too. Since I am giving birth in the hospital, The hospital will also supply some of what she needs.
I LOVE my new diaper bag. It is so cute. It’s pricey, but I plan on not wearing a purse anymore so this works perfectly.

What was something you really needed to bring in your bag?! Let me know and I’ll be sure to add it to mine. It’s the final countdown you guys.. She could be here NEXT MONTH?!
