5 Things to Know When Pumping at the Disney Parks

Let’s say you are a new mom, in desperate need of a vacation but you still have it: MILK. Don’t let this stop you from taking a trip that you deserve. My experience pumping at the park was a great one- so I am going to give you 5 easy steps to pumping at the Disney parks to help you along!

  1. What do I do With My Milk?

You have tons of options mama, the first one is to bring your milk as a carry-on if you’d like to keep it. You can actually bring it on the plane. I recommend bringing it frozen, that way security does not have to check every single package of liquid you have. There are tons of ways to keep your milk frozen: First thing is by investing in a yeti backpack cooler and a yeti ice pack. I did a TON of research on what will keep your milk most frozen for the longest time and these two combined will do the trick for at least 24 hrs.

If that’s not your cup of tea, you can bring a smaller yeti lunch box( it doesn’t keep it cold for 24 hrs) But will do the trick for at least 12 hrs. I know what you are thinking - what if my hotel doesn’t have a refrigerator?! You SHOULD be able to ask whatever hotel you are staying at for a fridge w/ freezer for medical reasons. They should be able to help you out there.

Say lugging a TON of breast milk isn’t an option for you. There is a way to get your milk shipped to your home. Milk Stork is a great option to have your milk getting home right when you need to.

Another suggestion I have is: donating! Find a local Facebook group to wherever city you are nearest, and donate your milk to a mother in need.

Another UNPOPULAR suggestion is: pumping and dumping. ( Which is what I did…. REMINDER THIS IS A NO-JUDGMENT ZONE LOL) . It was easier for me to pump and dump and clean out my pumps so I did not have to worry about where I was going to put my milk after I pumped throughout the day etc.

  2. Your Pump:

My recommendation is to bring a portable pump if you can. This makes pumping in the parks easier for you. You could be eating at a restaurant, waiting in line somewhere, or just chilling out in the grass, I have an Elvie Stride. This is an amazing portable hospital-grade pump, that is only through insurance rn, but it is VERY affordable. However, it is available for those without insurance here at 1Natural Way. Be sure to use the coupons they offer on their website! ( signing up for newsletters etc). There are other options as well like the Willow and Elvie Pumps. This one was just super affordable and works well. Another great portable pump that is super popular on Amazon is this one, and from Legendairy is this pump here.

  3. Baby Care Centers

THESE PLACES ARE HEAVEN!!! I used these even though I brought my portable pump. This was a space for me to get away and pump and sit down for a while. They have a sink, soap, bottle warmers, changing stations, filtered water stations, high chairs, outlets, etc.

So if you don’t have a portable pump, don’t panic! They have outlets here. Always check the park map on your phone to find the baby care center nearest you.

  4. Lockers

Disney world offers storage lockers for your convenience so you don’t have to haul around your milk. This was a huge lifesaver for me. There was one day I decided to bring my Spectra to the parks and had a huge lunch box, to me it was not worth it to carry that around all day. So the first thing I did when I got to the park was put my pumps inside a locker.

  5. A Day Pumping at the Parks

I went to Disneyland and did pumping and dumping … But here is what it could look like for you if you are keeping your milk :

    1. Start off your day by pumping before you go to the parks. Then, go straight to my locker and put your pump, yeti lunch box, and cooler, inside.

    2. Go have fun at the park!! Then when you are ready go to your locker and get your things, head to the baby care center, and pump. Then place your items in your lunchbox, and put them back in your locker. repeat for the rest of the day.

    3. When you finish for the day at the parks, go ahead and head to your hotel and don’t forget your things in your locker!

      OR

A BENEFIT of staying on Disney property is that you can head home whenever you need. So if you feel as though your milk is getting warm… head back to the hotel and place it in your fridge, etc. Something I loved about staying on Disneyland Property was that I could go back to the hotel whenever I wanted.
